Integration of Adaptation and Mitigation in the Field of Energy
In the energy sector, mitigation benefits such as improving energy efficiency, enhancing CO2-neutral energy consumption and CO2 fixation in vegetation can be merged with adaptation benefits such as risk prevention and energy supply security during extreme weather events, for example storms and droughts, comfort in buildings during heat waves and reduction of environmental damage in flooded areas (e.g. water pollution).
