-------------------------------------------------------------------
Short description of measure
Problem to be solved: Drought; freshwater transport over long distances
Goal, potential objective: Improvement of water containment
Developmental steps: Pilot phase
Instruments, implementation mechanism: Advancement programs, demonstration plots, advice and consulting
Area of implementation: Local, regional
Responsibilities: Private horticultural enterprises; regional water management board
Time horizon: Medium term
Economic aspects: Optimisation of water management; reducing costs of fresh water supply and transport and reducing costs of drainage/pumping capacity
Promoters, obstacles, risks: Large investments; possible in new buildings; renovation of existing plots
Side effects:
Bridge to mitigation: Less pumping capacity for drainage needed in periods of heavy rainfall as well as for fresh water in periods of drought
