Flooding of coasts

While the sea level is rising because of the melting of glaciers and the poles, the extension of heated sea water and for various other reasons, coasts are more and more threatened by storms, erosions and floods. This working group discusses how negative consequences like the destruction of infrastructure can be obstructed by measures of adaptation and mitigation. Potential options are the retreat from or the protection of threatened areas or the accomodation to this new conditions, as the Netherlands do by installing swimming roads and houses.
